dont bring a knife to a gunfight but nick florida law states......
"In 1997 the Florida Supreme Court held that a pocketknife is not a weapon if the blade length is less that 4inches in length. This excludes butterfly knives, automatic knives, or knives that do not fold in a traditional manner."
<-----this is with no ccw license, if u get ur license u can carry ur giant shanking stick lol
Anyone in fl should pick up a copy of Florida Firearms: Law, Use, & Ownership by Jon H Gutmacher......if u own a gun it is seriously as essential to have this book as having ammo for your gun, hes a lawyer that specializes in this field of law for many moons now.....Its updated every year with lamen terms for the sometimes confusing law......
and pirate n mojo, I efin love my XD, she rides right next to me wherever i go in the chevy.
Kornhouse, good to hear yall are alright, but had I been in that same situation I really cant tell you what i wouldve done, I wouldve definetly drawn my weapon, had he pulled a knife or a gun on me then yes, i wouldve definetly shot him....
for those of you who think aknife isnt all that dangerous, my CCW Instructor told me of an fbi agent who was off duty in nyc when he was approached by a guy with a knife and told to hand over his money. The agent had a concealed 9mm on him, but thought he would Chuck Norris the guy instead of pull his weapon......you shouldve seen the pictures ladys n gents, a 3 inch blade literally sliced the guy wide open in several spots all over his body, like wiiiidddee open, not a little scratch.......
Anyways to each his own, but as Mojo stated, Id rather by judged by 12 than carried by 6
Be safe people and watch out for the crazies.....
oh and kornhouse, normaly when i ride with my buddy and we stop at a gas station, we do the buddy routine and one of us goes in while the other stays in the truck keepin an eye on things.(hes got a g17 and i have my xd in the trucks) _________________ They call me Dr. Jones

| integrity640, wait, why would you need a permit for a sword assuming it's not concealed? I would think it would be no different from carrying a Bowie on your belt |

Mr. Top Hat
You can't openly carry a sword because knives are considered deadly weapons if they are past a certain length. I believe the 'common pocketknife' which requires no permit to carry in any form is under 3 1/4 inches. I could be wrong but i know its not something like 6 or 8 inches. Since swords tend to be longer than the legally acceptable common pocketknife, you would need a permit if you chose to make that a weapon of choice.
Korhaus- I would have hopped out my driver door simultaneously unholstering my Glock 17 screaming "Get the F*CK out of my truck," in which case only one action could have spared him his life....and thats getting the f*ck out of my truck. He lunges toward me or the chick and his ass would have felt at least three 147 grain controlled expansion 9mms. I cant imagine what being in that situation would feel like, especially without the option of a firearm. Since that is a justifiable self defense situation regarding the use of deadly force, bang bang son.
For everybody else reading this, I'm not a hard ass, nor do i think i am because of my firearm. It just means that I have the upper hand against the sick, psychopaths who are only after their own personal satisfaction.
Glad you are ok tho man, thats some heavy stuff.
Advice to those looking for CCW weapons: Rent different guns, shoot your friends, get your hands on different calibers, sizes, configurations, what have you. Find out what works for you. Its a long process but you cannot be to careful and too sure of yourself. The right weapon for YOU is most likely not the right weapon for somebody else. Get some practice, get some experience with dif weapons and make an informed decision.

I love this thread!
Here's a pic I took a long time ago just for this site. Now, when I look back, I laugh at myself for taking the time to setup and take this picture. But, it put a smile on my face so... here it is. Some will remember.
And remember guys, peace through superior firepower!

Here's some more old pictures. There all 5+ yrs old. The ammunition used in both guns pictured was hand loaded by me.
At the 600 yard range... I was throwing down 6'' groups. The rifle pictured is a G.A. precision AR, based on the common AR-15 design. The optic is built by US optic.
At an IPSC competition... came in 14th outta 100. I was among many po po officers too. I beat most of them, and still do to this day.
Here's another of the same day.
The pistol I was using is a Wilson Combat, CQB model 1911, .45 cal. _________________

Oh and by the way, I carry everywhere I go except the airport and places I know I will get searched upon entry. Most of the time I carry my glock 36 (.45 cal) in a custom IWB (inside the waistband) holster. I can wear board shorts and a tee and 99% of people don't know that I'm carrying.
Sometime when I'm wearing pants I'll use an ankle holster for my B.U.G. (Back-up gun). Its a smith and wesson MP 340PD _________________
