Don't know if this has been posted before, but I was going through some old wakeboard stuff and came across the April 1998 issue of WBM (Lake Powell issue). I saw this ad and had to post it...

I would prefer "bindingless delight".

This swirls many an emotion in my heart...I'm glad it's not called waterskating. I felt spiteful when I first saw that ad, and I hadn't even tried riding bindingless yet.

I would never want to change the name of wakeskating or anything..but waterskating does seem more suiting from a logical standpoint (maybe an outsiders/non-riders point of view). Especially since the revolution of winching, wakeskating has kinda went the way of "water" instead of just wake. I mean, when it was named wakeskating, most assumed the sport would follow wakeboarding and be a "behind the boat" kinda sport.

You could call it waterboarding for all i care though. I'll love it nonetheless.

Random Sidenote: I hate it when I tell people I wakeskate and they respond with "weight-skate..? what's that?" Smash

electricsnow, word. That board even resembles that FM Josh Smith pro model that Messer would ride with FWT pads.

acceptance of hyperlite's "waterskating" is a sign of the apocalypse in wakeskating...or a different generation. it's totally ironic too because in their early "waterskate" promo video all of that riding was just wake[board]skating, like wakeboarders doing wakeboardy things without bindings.

So I'm definitely going with SCBrip's hyped suggestion of "bindingless delight."

SCBrips, I just think it's weirder to compare that board to jason's first foam board. Or if you see the first prototype of that thing, it's literally a foam covered wakeboard with shaped wakeboard binding foot beds (imagine a binding footbed, sans rubber straps, and an arch support for full on directional shredding).

but at least they used FWT pads (and never advertised/promoted the FWT part). wow, i haven't felt this kind of bitterness since like 2003!
