One mistake and he'd be dead possibly along with some other innocent motorists. I don't care if he was on the autobahn...that was stupid, irresponsible, and downright dangerous. |

Firefighter....
pulled 2 dudes out of a car that was on fire, and watched the 9 year old in the backseat die........ Not Cool.
that was 55mph in a 35.... the kid and his dad and uncle weren't speeding..... the stupid beach going the other way was. Cars aren't supposed to catch fire like that.... but stuff happens... _________________

Yes it is. I've driven on the autobahn and people are extremely respectful of the "stay to the right!" law. It seemed that normal drivers on the autobahn know that there are commonly speeders in the fast lane so they are very mindful of it. It would never work here in the States though.. people aren't used to driving that defensively or courteously IMO. _________________ chance favors the prepared mind |

taku, yeah, people mostly obey this law. but most of the time, though, roads are packed and you can't speed anyways. once you get the chance it's really fun though. and, people are accustomed to other drivers going really fast, so it isn't such of a big deal.
driving in america sucks big time! people are always over all lanes and mostly way to slow. if you really want to proceed you've got to switch lanes all the time and pass on the right. imo it's way to dangerous if you're allowed to pass cars on either side! and that you're allowed to use your cell while driving!!! |

It's still stupid as hell to be going that fast around other people. Look in your rear view, it's clear, pull out, boom the car coming at you at 100 mph faster than you were was hard to see until it smashed you.
There are just too many unkown variables to safely travel at that speed on a public road like that.
But I will say for the record that I'm sure German drivers are worlds beyond American drivers as far as skill goes. |

It's just rule of thumb to stay in the right lane if you are going to go slower than the posted speed limit as long as it's above the minimum in America. Faster traffic usually stays on the far left (unless the far left is a carpool lane) and is used for passing. Right? |
