i have the same exact problem when i do them i/o. i've boarded a couple, an i think it's because i throw the kickflip halfway through my fs 180.
And for me, a fs flip takes a little bit harder of a flick tha a kickflip does.

On frontside flips you want to make sure you take a steady edge out and flatten off then you pop a good 180 making sure the tail is all the way out of the water, then about halfway through the 180 you kick the kickflip, try and guide the rest of the 180 with your front foot(soon to be back foot). Make sure you stay over your toes and spread your feet. Remember to try to keep the hendle at your hip. Then you ride away clean..

PoopSkater, you probably are not waiting long enough took kick the kickflip, or you are over exaggerating the 180. Those are my guesses. Hope it helps.

Maybe you should just go 24 like you usually do, it seems to work for you.
