im getting a new board this week with wakeskate grip and i wanted to know if i can wakeskate with my nike airs.

does it matter what shoes i wear to wakeskate?

Yeah it matters alot what shoes, I'd suggest you get a pair of these

jwise, i normally have only skated reef, dvs, and nike shoes that are specific for wakeskating...they drain better, hold less water and are overall lighter. I began back in the day skating regular skate shoes and they worked just fine...
recently, due to the lack in shoe sponsored and my as$ being broke i've turned my attention to the payless airwalks. so far they are just great. i got a $14/15 pair of airwalks and they are a month or 2 old. the soles are holding well. the canvas sides have been worn quite a bit and i've got a raw spot on my left foot from flicking flip tricks but whenever it gets bad enough and i prevail over my laziness i grab my iron-on patches and fix her up. shoe goo is also my new freind Very Happy

so basically, everything works. some shoes are better than other's and it's definitely not imperative to have 'wakeskate' shoes to progress or whatever your looking to get out of wakeskating.
