how to make some concave wakeskate presses

just wondering if you guys have some ideas. cause my dads a developer and i wanna take the wood from the trees he has to cut down. and make some skates. just need tips on making the press cause we have all the tools for cutting and i know how to do all that just wanna make the concave skates better. tips on composite are welcome too for some of the bi level designs we are working on. these skates are gonna be really affordable. ill post pics of the prototypes when they are done. and im looking to put together a small team and i will be willing to demo the boards. let me know what ya think

Cut trees must be sized into either thin veneer sheets or oversize lumber blanks, THEN either be air dried (+/- 12 months) or kiln dried ($), before they can be used. The moisture content of the wood is VERY important, and will be a disaster if not done right. This is why more people don't just go cut trees to build houses, etc....

Also, you may be able to make a mold for a rocker line, but the concave in these thick decks need to be machined into them, not pressed into them like a thin skateboard.

There is a lot to learn about grain directions, gluing up for strength, etc...

With all that said, good luck with your project, it sounds like fun!!!

Cary K., have a kiln on site the wood has already been dried. i'm thinking of doing bi levels. the bottom decks are gonna be pretty basic bottom deck like the sst's or verge etc. and for the top deck i'm gonna build a press like you would to make a skate deck and take it to a larger scale to give you a skateboard feel on the top deck

New presses in their concave, and on the other hand Oak mills out their concave, so it all about how you set it up.
