i can understand finless, or finned, but i don't really understand using just one. obviously its preference, but it seems like things could get weird after doing shuvs and what not. i mean i fall alot so it wouldnt effect me.

Some people like one fin for riding switch and having more control. Others ride one fin for landing certain tricks or maybe like to have more control going I/O or w2w. Its all personal preferance really. I use to ride with 2 fins then went to none then went back to 1 then none again just to try different things and feelings.

I used to like one for the option of being able to boardslide flatbars without having to take any fins out but still be able to have a solid ollie (i had issues with ollies without fins for some reason). I don't think it made a huge difference but it gave me less to get caught up on. I recently switched to finless though.

i usually rock one in the back, it gives you the best of both worlds because you can do a shuv and ride finless. deff personal preference though.

i think it is extremely inconstant. i also hate asymmetrical. ollieshuvitz and i debate about it all the time, but we just have different preferences. i like my board to feel the same no matter what. i have enough going on in my head while i ride, i dont want to have to think about if im on the tail or nose.

yeah mitch and i dont agree on this.

i think it comes down to this basic concept:

there is a specific nose and tail, which is deteremined when the board is pressed. there are different things that give a reference to which is which, such as a fin on the tail, the graphic, or the grip. maybe even where theres a nick in the board or something.

so for me, i get used to the board being backwards or normal, thus having a fin doesnt matter. also why asym doesnt matter.

if i was on a sym integ, completely gripped black, there would still be a specific nose and that would be the nose for me.

i know im weird, but hey it's what floats my boat. Wink

quote :- it gives you the best of both worlds.

Also i ride winch mostly in a muddy harbour so its good not to have a fin at at least one end for sliding starts on mud, can be done with a fin but causes issues (Stones under mud). But i also like the fact that with one fin, you do learn how to ride with fins and without, also you learn the difference between the two. but i fight with my self alot on the subject.

With or with out i still have fun.

Other people who ride with one fin have also said that it gives you more forgiveness on switch tricks as well. And like others have said, it makes other tricks "more possible" without catching your fin (like rail tricks and such).

I'm a two finner. But last fall when I rode behind someone else's pwc I wished I could have taken a fin off, because the wake was smaller than what I was used to and it made doing lip tricks a bit tricky.

Anyway, it was nice to read your input ollieshuvitz, even though you're like a woman about it or something. Laughing

i ride one fin on the nose of an asym board. I like to have it there so when i try tricks like back side 180s or vflips anything where the board does a 180 pretty much, its locks you in and you have a consistent edge away.

some really different perspectives here from very different motives.

i'm an asyym man....like a plane, big nose and small tail, aerdoynamically gifted, like the wright brothers charging the devil hills. one fin was liked by the ol cassette boys and it seems logical on an assymetrical design. this is great when hitting rails.

i feel ya on being funny cause after every fall you have to find that nose. and after every trick that involves a shuv u have to shuv back before you can shove forward....in a sense. when i break a fin, i'll only do kickies and 3 shuvs just so i can land on the fin. weirdo.

i'm with esnow on this one.......2 fins r the ticket.

the way the fin grabs the landing gets me hottt. the way she sets into the shoulder of the wake taking aim at jack's bean stalk makes me squack.

it's all what your raised on, no one is any better than the other.

the reason why i ride with one fin is because i can't back big with a fin, but i cant kickflip without a fin...........so having one fin means i get to do both those tricks Very Happy Smile Cool
