ok so me and my friend r building a rail this year. we both just started skating so this will be our first rail made and hit. it needs to be floating cause my lake is super deep and rock bottom. so i am thinkin of makin an up flat box. how long should i make it? how wide? what material on top? wat to float it with?
and also if any one has any pictures or plans that would be great
thanks

Welcome, but if you plan on building a rail there is this whole section you just posted in called "rails" where there are hundreds of topics discussing the construction of rails.
I mostly use azek trim board for the top surface... sometimes trex. Check into FRP panels also, it's a little cheaper than azek.

Barrels or foam blocks, barrels are pretty cheap but it's tough keeping something like a floating box sturdy; trying to dig up some old pics of a floating box we made..

No, it wasn't stable that's why we had to move it into shallow water. You would have to do some serious anchoring to prevent it from tipping. It sucks your lake is so deep, it's 10x easier sinking 4x4 posts.

scotty-skate, a golf course is your best bet, that what their chemicals come in, also filling the barrels with some water will add to stability, happy shredding

-=AlexXx=-,
Ha ha that was our first attempt at a rail/box, we wanted to float it in deeper water but it was so tipsy we just moved it close to the shoreline. That was basically a really deep puddle, we were using a four wheeler to pull us.
You still going to MD? You should seriously consider a day trip up here, you won't regret it I promise
