Before heading to work yesterday morning, I had my daily dose of Sfumato while eating breakfast. I turned the TV and VCR off and walked out of the door for a lovely day at work.

Later on during the day, I was talking with my wife on the phone and she told me that the electricity went out at home and that the VCR would not come back on. I was originally worried about my computers until I remembered that I watched Sfumato that morning and that it was still in the VCR. When I got home, I played with it for a while and it basically came down to the fact that the VCR was fried. I then began taking it apart, litterally breaking pieces off so that I could get the tape out. If you have never seen the inside of a VCR, then I can tell you that a lot of tape is strung all through the machine and it is amazing that your tapes aren't eaten up most of the time.

So when I finally got all the pieces off that were preventing the tape from slipping out, I pulled the whole cassette out of the VCR and began winding the tape back into it. I was almost crying at this point. I immediately stuck it into another VCR and sure enough, the tape was jacked up. Some of it played, but most of it was just a blank screen and the music didn't sound right. My copy of Sfumato (only a few days old) is officially dead.

Luckily, I also received an email from Cassette earlier that day and was told that I should be receiving the DVD soon. If I don't get it soon, I'm goig to order it anyway. That video is so bad ass!

wow dave, this story is kind of funny, but that's because I'm a jerk. seriously though, I'm sorry to hear that. But once you receive the dvd, you'll enjoy it to its fullest. I've watched sfumato every day since I received it (despite my busy schedule--I usually watch it when I do my pt stuff because it's all inspiring and what not.) ANyway, I'm sure things will turn around for you!

No quality surge protectors for your home entertainment system? Better go out and get yourself a Monster Cable HTS Wink.

When you get the DVD rewatch Danny's section and let me know if I'm seeing things right, but did he do a 180 varial kickflip near the end of his section? (Or whatever it's called, what's a varial kickflip with a frontside body varial?)

It's near the very end of his section. I had my perception messed up, thought he was riding regular for some reason. Thanks for the correction.
