i've been doing some research on the site, but haven't seen anyone saying that wood is good or bad to use as sliding material for box. i have a low budget for my rail. i have floating dock section that i'm going to use as a base, but still not sure if i'd be ok using wood as the top. if it makes a difference its going to be 4' x 24'. if not wood then whats a good CHEAP material. trex and all that fake decking is way to expensive Question

trex isnt too expensive, its about the same as wood. Go to home depot or Lowes. I've heard waxed wood works, but its not great.

If you are putting it on a floating dock, it's gonna have to be all that fancy treated wood, which isn't gonna be much cheaper than trex. Why not just build a flat bar on one side of the dock and you'll only have to buy four 12 footers of trex? In the long run it's a better plan.. wood isn't gonna last like trex will.

trex is 70 dollars for a 16 ft 2x5 here which is double what wood would cost that size, but it is the best slide i have ever felt

from my experience wood slides decent on durasurf, danny also made a wood box down here, but that also has a solid 1 inch coating of bird shiit

I've never spent money on wood.............everything we get is out of construction piles and dumpsters
