so this spring i wanna build a floating flat bar. i've got the plans down but i dont know what to use to anchor it. is cinder blocks still the norm? any imput would be greatly apretiated!! thanks guys

It depends on how big your rail is and what the lake floor is made up of. If the bottom of you lake is sandy/muddy, then traditional anchors are the best because they'll dig in and hold. If it's rocky then you can use just about anything, though you'll need to use fairly heavy anchors...we usually tie two cinder blocks together to make one anchor...then use a total of 4 anchors (8 cinder blocks) in an 'x' position...so that the anchors sit under the opposite corner (on the diagonal) from the corner they are tied to.

However, if it's not that big...say 10ft...then you'll probably only need 2 anchors...though it may have a tendency to move around.
