The good: Decent video quality; 32X optical zoom lens; optical image stabilization; native 16:9 wide-screen video.

The bad: Useless night mode; submegapixel sensor won't wow you with resolution.

The bottom line: The Panasonic PV-GS85 is a serviceable budget camcorder, but better choices are out there.

do a google search for reviews. there are plenty of unbiased opinions.

the above came from this site.

http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/panasonic-pv-gs85-camcorder/4505-6500_7-32330315.html

the search words "Panasonic MiniDV Digital Camcorder PV-GS85 review"

the results: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=DKUS%2CDKUS%3A2006-28%2CDKUS%3Aen&q=Panasonic+MiniDV+Digital+Camcorder+PV-GS85+review

hope that helps

i have a panasonic 3chip that gets pretty decent light results at dusk. Check the next one up. I think it is closer to 500 bucks though, so not so good if your on a budget. OIS is something you want to look for instsead od DIS.
