wakeskating = the best
shawkboarding = kind of cool for beginners but really ghey for hardcore wakeskaters _________________ "it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." |

when wakeskating first started people were trying to figure out how to ride a board behind a boat without being strapped in. now shawkboards is trying to figure out a way to reattatch the board to our feet and claim it is something different than wakeboarding. some of you people might be more acceptive to the idea of strapping yourselves to your wakeskates, i feel it is one of the gayest things i have ever heard of on this site.

When I finally come on the forum and see this kind of attempt at something worthwhile.... i snicker.
I just don't see the point. |

Mr. Top Hat, but stompin9s makes a good point it's probably really good for beginners who aren't comfortable with the instability of a wakeskate.
and i'm stoked to see more and more people get into this sport!!
don't let this turn into surfing, where the "old salty surfers" who've been doin it for years say things like, "if you don't surf don't start". if someone wants to shawkboard to transition into wakeskating, THEN LET EM
but don't go sink their boat, or fight them cause you don't like their equipment.
unless they stole your secret spot.... then it's time to cut throats and plunder the booty |

that is what i dont like. that first instability is half the fun and challenge of wakeskating. if people want to shawkboard to learn the basics for wakeskating then they should really question whether they want to be riding a wakeskate in the first place. |

You shouldn't feel so strapped in and secure on a wakeskate. Wakeskating allows one to be able to do whatever the hell he wants with it whether cruising around fluidly or doing technical tricks. Freedom...... |

Mr. Top Hat, i agree with you..... but let me try to explain my predicament.... i'm the only one around here that skates.... so it's hard to find someone to come out with me everday cause all the people around here complain that they can't stay on a wakeskate, so they'd rather just "play" with the jet ski, instead of pulling me, or they'd rather go home than winch.... and i don't own a wakeboard for them to "ride" since they can't skate
so when i get my free shawkboard, it will really be a great opportunity for me to get people out to give me a pull cause even though they suck they can still get up and ride.
that's my feeling on a shawkboard. i will stick with my omen, but if it gets me a pull with out having to beg, then i'll happily keep it in the back of my truck |

*You can't get up and ride around any easier on a shawkboard than a wakeskate, (it is a wakeskate with velcro on it)* _________________ √ |

che blanc, some beginners have trouble placing their feet in the propper position when sitting in the water...the velcro would for sure help _________________ "it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." |

this weekend i tried to teach my lil bro how to wakeskate using the shawkboard set up, it was good because he knew where to put his feet and could get comfortable riding with his feet in that position. unfortunatly he still sucks and was only up for about 4 seconds so we'll try to get him going next time |

che blanc, there are a few people out here that try to ride with me, and they cannot seem to get the wakeskate to stay with their feet long enough to get up...
but my FREE shawkboard just came in today, so i'll play with it today and let yall know what i think

Slapdown, no good reason... that's what some people around here call me...
it all started with my best friend, who's nearly a foot taller than me, he makes fun of me when i can't reach stuff that he puts up real high, he says it's cause i have short arms.... so he started saying i have short arms and a big head... "t-rex"
it's been that way for like a year, but i just decided to change it on saturday. _________________
