Boards breaking/delamming

Im going to start getting into wakeskating a little for something to do after wakeboarding. I was just wondering how long do you need to ride to have boards delam as fast as i heard some do? I just want a cheap board, something like the lf faction 40 but im not sure i want to if it is just going to get destroyed really fast. Im just planning on riding for a little after wakeboarding a few times a week and hopefully learning some ollies, pop shuvits and other tricks. And yes i have searched and couldn't seem to find anything. Thanks for any help.

yeah for sure. go with composite. Like hyerlite catalyst if your a wakebaorder. or integrity. or w.e

If you'll only be riding it occasionally (a few times a week as you mentioned), I wouldn't really worry about delams and stuff. Most wood skates should last you a few seasons if you keep good care of them and don't ride everyday.

Composites are WAY more expensive.. Definitely not ideal if you don't ride much and are just starting to wakeskate.

P.S... dont give advice if you don't know what the fvck you're talking about and obviously haven't even read what the guy is asking Smash

Yea, composite would be nice but out of my budget as s34n said. So what should i do to keep it in good shape. Will it be relly bad for it if i left it on the boat when it was docked? So its only more of a problem if you are constantly riding and hitting rails and stuff? thanks for the replies

Instead of buying a cheap wood skate, you should browse the classifieds for a decent priced used composite skate. if you enjoy riding strapless, you'll grow into the board and not get tired of it as quickly as you would a light weight wood skate. Just my .02 of course.

s34n, you're a douche, they're just speaking their minds man, its an online forum, they can do whatever the fvck they want.

this guy needs some help and maybe if he does buy a composite it will last him a while longer than a wood and it takes less maintenance, but price does come into play, but dont go throwin harsh words aound like you are. Pconn5 will eventually figure out whats best.

Pconn5, if you want another opinion from what you read on here, go to your local shop, tell them what you want and your price range and if they arent thieving bastards and care about the customer then they will help you find exactly what you need. and see if you can demo a wood and/or composite skate (if it doesnt cost too much Smash

) or if you know people with skates, try theirs..

like shlt, my first board was a hyperlite scape, i learned so a lot on that, you dont need an expensive concave board with the latest in sllider base technology and reshapable rails to go have fun and rip around. you just need something thats gonna stay under you and wont cost you a foortune, you can get flat decks for under $100 now, thats pretty damm good.

I work at a local shop man and you sound like someone who would enjoy the a Liquid Force Anthem, its a hybrid 3 stage rocker, so its got some good pop but not to much, the board is foam so its user friendly if you ever have any buddies who want to try it out, its got pretty good concave to it and its only 163 bucks great board for some body who is just lookin to rip it up after a long session, I road the hyperlite scape as well VinceWhiteman, and it was fun, another good option is an 06 catalyst, a little bit bigger for the guys who are used to wakeboarding and rides good wake to wake, if you want some grip tape on there man then go with the 07 they are both 3 stage rockers and are double glassed so they are heavy and stick to your feet better, and are weighted in the nose and the tail for shuv-its, that pretty much sounds like what you wanna do some come to sun and ski in austin texas, and buy one from me haha, have fun man, SLASHE THE WAKE!

It's just a little frustrating when people who don't even own a board are trying to give advice to someone on what they should get. The guy is just asking if wood skates last, and people are telling him, "buy a composite". What??? At least read the first post...

i read the post, it said he was looking for a "cheap board". He did inquire about how long wood boards last, but did not specify what he wanted, only gave an example and a description(cheap). sorry i bothered you. does this forum have an ignore button? you can push it and ignore all of my posts. I thought my idea of looking for a used board was pretty good, especially considering some of the boards that sell on here are super cheap. I'm new to this forum, but not the sport. pconn, BIG caveat here...I am, like you, new to the sport.

My first skate was my hubby's the HL Scape and I loved it. It was a great skate to learn on and just get behind the boat and enjoy. It is not too costly. We ended up using the warranty as after the first use the back cracked due to the water. ???

My board this season is the LF Maven, it was a present...so I don't think I can't add too much here as I have taken her for a spin only a handful of times. I really like the board and there is a huge difference, for me at least between the scape and Maven. Lots of good advice from the guys above. Good luck with your new purchase!

Ok guys thanks for the help. I don't think im throwin out the money for a composite as of yet. I think im just going to wait and try to get use to my crappy homemade board that barely floats and hope i can get the faction for my birthday. If that doesn't happen then i will probably still wait and save up for a composite. The HL vinyl looks sick but may take some time to save up for!
