| I'm not sure if its exactly what your talkin bout, but Mirah: Advisory committe, Architecture in Helsinki has SOME good stuff, and Tristeza is solid. Thee More Shallows is ona my favorites in that genre(s)! |

Yes, they're still around. The main guy left to do The Album Leaf full time, but they're still around and making good music.
Another really good instrumental prog-ish indie rock band is Russian Circles.
