I am wondering if anyone has set up a rail in a large river. It's the Tennessee river, but its only about 15ft. deep. I'm not sure the CFS of the flow, but I can find out. Please help. |

unless you are going to have a floating rail than i dont think you can get posts that long into the river bottom. If you anchor it to something it might work though. _________________ Some people make birdhouses, some people knit sweaters. I star in high-quality pornographic films. To each his own... |

that's what i would suggest, is to float it, but check out how fast the current goes, and maybe if the bottom moves or erodes alot, you might have to sink ur poles real deep, and 15 feet is pretty deep, thats alot to work with _________________ http://vergewakeskates.com/ |

I agree that 15ft is deep. If it is floating, once it is hit will it bounce like crazy? I'm sure that the physics could be calculated somehow. |

wakeridr81, it will definately bounce. Its much easier and better to build a rail in shallower water. And you could easily fix anything. 15ft is really too deep for a rail _________________ Some people make birdhouses, some people knit sweaters. I star in high-quality pornographic films. down on my part of the Tennessee there are plenty of spots to put rails in shallow water... like 3 feet.... can you not find a place shallower than 15? _________________ IT'S THAT DAMN SASQUATCH!!!! |

I live on the ohio and the problem isn't erroding it's the debris that floats down. Find a shallow bank on the other side of a bend to put it on. We are going to build ours out of fence post this year so that we can take the trex portion off when we know it's going to flood. |
