PIMP winching systems based outa tallahassee builds winches and sells them... they will also sell you parts if you want to build your own... so kylemcleod if you cant weld you could always buy a frame and spool from PIMP winches and everything else you can buy elsewhere.. send him a pm _________________ Nothin better than Wakeskating and Motocross!

KyleMcleod The spool is the easiest part of the winch to build. Two steel discs, 6 threaded rods, six metal tubes to go over the rods and two gokart Sprocket holders. All you need to do is drill all the holes with the discs screwed togetherand everything turns out nice and straight.
Check out winchskating.com to see what I mean. The HAKR winch is mine and that's exactly how we built ours. |

Up until now we used it on the Rhein river and we sort of pre-opened our local cable-park and hit their obstacles for a day. They ended up being a bit pissed
Otherwise we use it anywhere we find water. We haven't had any trouble with cops yet which I thought was surprising this being Germany and all...
Surprising how many new "friends" you end up with as soon as you have a winch |

Luckily, JMK's dad owns a company with a huge workshop and lots of very BIG tools, so we had it kinda easy on the build and the welding was free
In the end, it cost us around 600€, which is something like 900$. We made a couple of silly buys, so we will be building the next one for around about 600$ (hopefully with a TAV)
It pulls well, we've just got to get the gearing right because we end up going around about 30mph, which is a bit stupid
Definitely building it ourselves made it all the more satisfying at the end!
The guys at pimp winching systems have got some really nice stuff and if you buy the frame and the spool from them the rest is just assembly. You could have a working winch within an afternoons work with household tools. |
