well me and my friends really want to build a winch for the offseason and days when we can't go up to our lake. I was wondering if i have all the right measurements / equipment.

IMO you might as well plan for a wider spool.
Good Luck

CrzyTexan, that is the dimensions of my spool size... it will work fine but just fyi we used very thin line so we were able to fit 1000 ft of line onto the spool... if you are planning on using a bigger line you might want to make your spool a bit wider... you can use the spool calculator to be sure

so what demensions would be good to hold 1,000+ feet of straightline rope? The spool is the only thing that is always throwing me off.

ive decided to go with this instead of the straightline rope less expensive and more of Smile.
http://www.bulletlines.com/servlet/the-39/Winch-Rope%2C-Winch-Line%2C/Detail
3/6" (3mm)

So im guessing my diameter will be good. Any need for over 1,000ft of rope?

your spool set up should be fine... spool calc says 1600 feet... that should leave you plenty of room... you really dont need anything more than 1000 feet... i have 750 on my winch and it takes forever to wind all that line out... very rarely do i use all 750... usually only at the beach...

If you get that think built you should definitely head over to plano. lots of winching paradise in some of the sub divisions around here.......until you get run off.

CrzyTexan, You don't need the centrifugal clutch if your using the Tav2, you need to do one or the other...

Your best bet would be the tav2 though out of the two.
