ok i mentioned this in my post in the skateboard forum. here is the deal. we have a very old beat to hell, has not run in 5-6 years pontoon.. it's not a huge one but about 16-18 ft. we are going to pull the engine off and see if ti's totally dead. IF it is then i'm going to stripe it down and try to make it into a box w/ rails. i think for safety in the front area w/ the points of the pontoons and the "fins" of the toons.. i'lll have to cover them, and maybe should cover the entire thing into a box. if i make the front panel removable it will be easy to tow and set up some cool anchor system. so once i have the "box" what are ya'lls ideas for the rest of it... what type of rails, etc do you think would work best?? i guess there is room for one on each side and possibly one in the middle. i will try to get a picture of the boat but i figured i'd get some gears turning and hope this will be a project that comes to fruition(sp)

you should make a detachable "kicker" that covers up the pointed ends of the pontoon, that is, if the whole top is flat and 'slideable'. But I may be thinking something totally different in my head... try to get a picture of this beast up, how high do you think it will sit?

when you strip the top, the one side would be perfect for a ledge. just fix some fiberon to the corners like a box.

as far as the posts go, i was thinking some sort of hinged flap to accommodate ride on situations.

all in all, that is a sweeto project.
Cool Idea

you could possibly extend the deck on both sides to cover up the points

kyle13, haha now that i think about it, that would be sooo sick.. sliding over a whole pontoon, a-frame style.. if you fall you'll just land in a seat anyway haha

Wow that looks sick. I'm thinking of turning out rail into a huge floating fun box next summer.
