|
|
Hey everyone,
I just bought a 05 impulse and from what I have read it seems that they have a tendency to get waterlogged and deeply. So I was thinking that I would put an extra layer of sealant on the board before I used it to prevent it from becoming ruined.
So what I am wondering is….
Do you think that this idea would work?
What kind of sealant I should use?
Thanks |

Spar Urethane, it comes in a spray can and it's pretty easy to find. I use it, well, before I had an OAK I used it. When you put any kind of sealant on lightly sand first, put a nice coat of it on and let it dry completely, lightly sand first coat and put another on. _________________

For optimum coverage take the grip off, but I wouldnt trip on the top to hard. Just coat the rails and bottom real good. Dont forget to tape up the grip tape so nothing gets on it. _________________

Jesse, do you mean that you have to sand it again after the first coat has been applied? is Spar Urethane good? _________________

yabu, yes. Sanding between coats makes for optimum coverage. Not enough to take the coat off, more like skuffing it up. _________________

StandUp, I got mine at home depot. Make sure to get the one that says "clear" or else it will turn your world piss yellow .
I wouldn't recommend using the spray stuff. It doesn't go on as thick and it's hard to tell what you have and haven't covered. Use the regular paint can type stuff and buy a few foam brushes. _________________ - Evan Molina |

Gorilla Glue is the Sha-it!!! I started using it the last few weeks and it's the bee knees.
It's the duct tape of glues. _________________ Life's Kredo = "When the snake falls in love with the spagetti it's time to buy a new hat." & "I guess I need to whiskey up these corn flakes..and heroin up this Orange Juice." |

My buddy made a carbon fibre skate. Be bought some foam, sanded it to the concave shape he wanted and then wrapped it in Carbon Fibre and sealed it tight..... it is the lightest deck I have every seen.
If you wanted to get CRAZY.....just seal your entire deck in Carbon Fibre, but that is a bit excessive.
Or....... Just ride the Bee-atch as is; beat the hell out of it, and gorrilla glue where needed. Remember that Gorillia Glue works best on wood when it is damp..... The wood deck/gorillia glue combo is good, just like beer and cigs... _________________ Life's Kredo = "When the snake falls in love with the spagetti it's time to buy a new hat." & "I guess I need to whiskey up these corn flakes..and heroin up this Orange Juice." |

StandUp, I used it on my k39 just for regular sealing. It's not expensive and it will last for a long ass time. For the oak i did some other crazy shizzle. I had to use wood bond to get the delamming layer back onto the board and then clamped it shut for a few hours. Then i filled any cracks, chips, etc. with wood filler and sanded it down. Now i might put some spar urethane on it if i get it back from my friend soon. If not i will just leave it as-is or put more of a different sealant on. _________________ - Evan Molina |
