i want to build a rail but the bottom of my lake is really muddy. What do i do?

buy 4x4x8's, cut the ends to a point, and pound them with a sledge as far in as they will go. then cut the tops to the preferred lengths. the mucky bottom is easier to deal with than a harder or rockier bottom. the posts will split when sledging them, but you just cut them anyway.

use a hose to kind of "drill" a hole into the muck and just slide the 4x4 in there. the mud will settle and it will be solid as something that is really really solid.
