what is the best materials to use on the sliding surface? also what is a good lenght.

there is some special stuff that guys were talkin about that is used at OWC, it was really expensive though. Crazy Eyes

yeah like 200$ for 4*8 but that funbox at OWC couldn't be sweeter

if you go to homedepo they got this stuff for like 20$ for a 4 x 8 sheet and it works good, not as good as the owc stuff. just go look for this stuff thats like bumpy on one side and smooth on the other. i have no idea what its called but it works

there is also something called trex, But at home depot its called fibron, which is plastic wood. It is a little more than regular wood but works really well.
