Such is Life will premier later in the night. There will be a couple bands playing as well as a showing of the new Volume video - Volume 1 which is pretty sick.

I'll be there, looking forward to the Such is Life viewing. Didn't know about Volume 1, that would be sick too. For future reference, drinking age is 19 in Ontario, only Quebec and Alberta are 18, and all ages events are no fun, it makes sense once you're of age.

I won't be sticking around this weekend for wakestock, although the Oakley pool gap looks like it will be sick. For anyone not in Toronto, there was a good article with a diagram in The Toronto Star (our newspaper) regarding the gap and Wakestock this weekend. Check out www.thestar.com, just make yourself a usename and password, its free and the article should be there somewhere. Althought it does make me quiver when mainstream media attempts to cover wake sports....to much use of the word radical.....

Anyways, Wakestock should be sick, someone take lots of pictures and give a good recap, I feel that every year it drifts farther and farther away from the Bala vibe, but I guess thats how things go. It's probably going to be a serious poserfest, just like last year. At one point it was myself and 4 other people at the wakeskate pool watching BT, George Daniels and Phillipe Joyal session, everyone else was at the Bikini contest or something (not that there's anything wrong with that). But to be honest its sad how few people watch the actual riding. Should be a good party none the less, I'll be on the water up north.

All I can say is this movie is sick.

The premier was awesome, and Such is Life is amazing. I got a chance to talk with Ronn before the screening, he was saying its a lot more about life than actual wakeboarding, which is true. The skating in it is spectacular, no joke, just crazy. The whole movie is laced with shots of Danny Hampson and then his 2 sections are last, some of the best camera work and sickest stuff I've ever seen. I talked to Danny and actually watched the premier with him, very cool to see his section for the first time, while he was seeing it for the first time. In his first section he skates without shoes, (stomps a 3 shuv by the way), its just so epic. He and Byerly hit wake to wake shuvs with no grab in the movie. Danny is such a chill, cool guy it was awesome talking to him, he was so pumped about the other skaters sections too which is cool. George Daniels section is killer, there is a sick line in there I won't spoil for you but you will all love it.

The Integrity section is cool, a lot like the one in Fill in the Blanks. I didn't particularly like the song they used but with the tricks they're throwing down it was just crazy. Shuv on, kickflip out. Hardflips super clean, 3 flips insideout and in the flats (It's a crazy looking trick because there's so much involved in it but Nick just stomps them, not sketchy at all). Ryan Lemons and Nick Taylor are just insane.

One of my favourite parts was Byerly's section, he's getting so good now its incredible. His nose slide on the Toe Jam rail to shuv out is ludicris. I really don't know what to say, this movie is a must have. Aaron Reed and Thomas are also in it briefly, along with lots of Toe Jam footage. There are two wakestock sections, one all the winch and skaing and one all regular competition stuff. Ronn said he mighht cut the movie down still, this was a rough copy but I must say its so sick, I was blown away.

I'm still reeling, it was such a great night, didn't like the bands, but I'm just not into Screamo. The also played Genetics before the bands came on, sick film. Those projects guys kill it. Brandon Thomas is so good, I know his part in Fill in the Blanks wasn't that good but he has come a long way.

Oh, and for all you Grubbheads, his section is all wake to wake stuff, which I thought was kind of lame, but he goes so big and so clean its still amazing to watch. But then he gets in the Toe Jam pool and kills it, shuv out of the pool, backside one out, and his winning trick, frontlip frontside shuv out is just sick.

I'll stop rambling, but one more thing, I believe Greg Van Wagen was there, didn't talk to him but he looked very confused (slash drunk) when we were leaving.
