Yeah so I've been around boards pretty much my whole life, snow, skate, and more recently wake boading... we got some jetskis last summer and ive been messin around on a wakeboard i got... im not that bad. i can ride well and jump wake to wake but not much else being that its a jetski so i have pretty much nothing to get air off of. someone on the wakeboard forums suggested wakeskating... i've heard of it and it looks sweet as hell.. being that ive been around different kinds of boarding i thought i may give it a try... would i be better off skating or boarding behind a jetski?

im in the process of buying a new wakeboard but now im kinda thinkin about gettin a skate.. any info would help

also im 6'3" bout 170lbs and about 300$ to spend on a board... any suggestions?

thanx

Well like you said, wakeboarding behind a ski is kinda limited. If you're going to buy a new board, think about if you would want to keep wakeboarding behind a ski, or have access to a boat where theres more room for progression. You can progress on a skate much more behind a ski than on a wakeboard.
As far as skating, try a friend's board or demo a board from your local shop. But I'm positive you'll like it.

Buy an Integ (265-300), best board out for the money... http://www.integrity-wake.com
You can round the edges to make it ride exactly how you want. Or you could hold off and wait until you can get a new Bi-level by Cassette, very innovative, but for me I would go with the Integrity, it WILL LAST YOU A LONG TIME. If you are a little unsure, by cheaper Kampus K41 or Cassette flat deck (less than 100). With any of these brands, you will be supporting a great company, and great people behind them. Some other brands to think about are Sattlyte, Omen (not available yet, but we are expecting great things), possibly L13. Vance, didn't you win an L13 board? You ridden it yet?

Progress on a wakeboard behind a jetski is limited, on a wakeskate, it is limitless.

Come on a wakeskate sight and what do you think your answer is going to be...go to wakeboarder.com and than see what your answer is.

billyf0486, everyone on this site is going to tell you to get an Integrity but dont just listen to them becuase they like it you gotta make sure yu try out a variety of boards before you buy one also on a jetski its muhc better for wakeskating because wakeboarding it doesnt pull you from above like a boat would and also theres no wake for wakeboarding if youre going to be ridng off a jetski defintly give wakeskating a shot if youre going to be riding off a boat do em both

billyf0486, for that kind of information you could go to wakeworld.com and im almost positive theres like a board wizard on there where yu put in youre weight and height and level of riding but in realty you pretty much could ride any board unless yu weigh like 300 pounds cause its relaly all youre won preference

height/weight is pretty irrelevant for wakeskates. Nothing like snowboards or surfboards.

Just ride what you feel comfortable on. A 41" is a very all around size, and as the other guys said your best bet for your budget is the integrity or the bi-level if you don't mind the board wearing out at some point and want something really innovative.

Oh, and since your behind a ski there are no good reasons to stay on a wakeboard Smash

id say wakeskate, u got a ski, perfect... uve wakeboarded a while so u got the feel. After a few weeks youll have the feel for it and probly kick it off pretty good. If i were u starting off, id get a cheap flat deck, just so b4 u spend a bunch of cash u like the sport. I got a 75 $ flat wood LF which served its purpose just fine for a while. I would go with what senorbueno was saying, go a cheap flat cassette or a kampus. Maybe even a L13, there boards are lookin pretty damn sexy. but if u knwo ur gunna love it and stick with it, spring for the integ or bi. Its personaly preference. I just recently go an integ last month after about 6 months of serious riding, after i knew i was gunna stick with it. so do what u think is right. i suggest the integ. but thats personal preference.

i did the same thing, i used to love to wakeboard but when i got my new ski everyone said i should try this. so i bought a cheap cassette flatdeck adn i love it. learning to wakeskate actually pushed me to start skateboarding too so i coudl undertand doing techical stuff cuz i cant ride at the lake everyday. i love skating behind my ski, specially makes it easy to dock start, shore start, and its really versatile.

if all you have access to is a PWC, than I highly recommend wakeskating. Wakeboarding might be right up your ally - based on your history of board sports . . . but in reality wakeboarding is all about the wake. No PWC is going to be able to offer you much. a) the wake will never be big enough and b) a PWC does not track well enough to pull a boarder. You call pull if off line with a moderate cut.

On a skate, wake is meaningless for the most part.

IndySkate, a wake is not meaningless. a nice wake is always a great thing to have while wakeskating.
